biography

Kamal Farrah is a British writer, producer and youth advocate.

Born in Southampton, England in 1999, Farrah grew up in Newtown, a tight-knit inner-city neighbourhood, where storytelling and youth centres were both refuge and rebellion.

Coming from a family of writers, community workers, and relatives working within the UN, his creative instincts and belief in the power of community were nurtured early.

By the age of ten, he was writing scripts and shooting short films with his best friend, Lewis, around their estate - early experiments that planted the foundation for what was to come.

In 2016, he began developing Greenhaven, a medical conspiracy drama, centering on a young Black medical student whose search for a cure for his ailing mother leads him to uncover a sinister conspiracy within the prestigious hospital treating her - a discovery that ignites a war against a secret society - and a mysterious man in black - determined to retrieve the damning evidence and silence him.

The series was conceived during Farrah’s own experience of his mother’s prolonged battle with a rare autoimmune disease within the local hospital.

In 2017, shortly after her passing, he completed the pilot episode for the series and submitted it to a BBC-affiliated production company, receiving his first rejection letter a month after his eighteenth birthday - a moment that marked the beginning of a decade-long commitment to refining the series and bringing it to a global audience.

In 2022, the Greenhaven pilot gained industry recognition on ‘The Black List’ in Los Angeles, where it was praised for its “exquisite writing” and “stellar opening sequence.”

The following year, Farrah earned his first production credits on ITV’s ‘Secret Crush’ and National Geographic’s ‘Europe from Above’, marking his formal entry into broadcast television.

A graduate of BA (Hons) ‘English Literature with Creative Writing’ from University of Winchester, Farrah has led youth and community initiatives across the United Kingdom, India, Peru, China, and Bali.

He was also awarded a global scholarship to Warrior Retreats, an international humanitarian and leadership programme that takes emerging leaders from the Amazon to the Andes for conservation and community-based work.

In 2024, he relocated to China, where he taught Drama and English at a leading international high school in Guangzhou and was later awarded “Best Teacher.”

Kamal believes that mastery comes through teaching and putting in the hours.

He is currently in talks to develop Greenhaven as a premium multi-season television series.

Outside of film and television, Farrah is passionate about conservation, youth development, martial arts, health and fitness, humanitarian work and building meaningful communal experiences around the world.
